Erin's Farm added and tends to a half acre of milkweed, butterfly weed and other pollinator friendly plants to help the Monarch Butterfly trek across the country.
Instead of using chemicals to kill the existing grass and weeds, we used a process called "solarization". We used sheets of plastic and let the sun do the work of getting rid of the weeds.
Next, we scattered seeds and watched it grow. Every year, we watch as the native flowers continue to thrive. We see butterflies, bees, birds and all kinds of wildlife thriving in this habitat.
This was awarded for our participation in conservation projects through NRCS, USDA, TACD, and the TN Dept. of Ag.
